After brunch, we walked to the Ballard Locks. The locks provide a link for boats between the salt water of Puget Sound and the fresh water of the Ship Canal, which connects eastward to Lake Union and Lake Washington. There were a TON of boats. Looks like those people are livin' the life on their yachts.
The low water that the boats are getting lowered to be able to get to.
Then we headed to the Fish Ladder which is right next to the Locks. The Fish ladder was built to allow salmon to pass between fresh and salt water, and to navigate the locks. Glass panels below the water line make it possible to watch the fish as they swim through the ladder.
Next stop - the Ballard Farmer's Market. It reminded us of the Fayetteville Farmer's market. The tents were lined down the main street in the neighborhood with cute shops on either side.
Collins Family Orchard - must be good produce ;)
We put the beach towel down on the sand and leaned our backs against a log. It was so relaxing and I really cannot think of a better way to end our trip.
Allison was a great host! So glad we finally got to visit her :)
We got back to SF around 8pm and had 2 dozen yellow tulips at our door. We opened the card and it was for Katherine, from Jonathan. Card said "To the Love of My Life." I really wanted to keep them, but then I felt bad for Jonathan so Tripp took them downstairs. As I was unpacking, I realized we left the card in the apt!! Ooooops!!! So Katherine will get the flowers, but no card!
It was such a nice feeling to get home and not be exhausted after a trip. So thankful for the opportunity to see this new city and excited to have another week in SF with my baby boo! :)
