Even though we don't leave until Thursday for our Highway 1 vacation - we wanted to have 2 days off to spend care-free in the city.
Tuesday AM, we woke up sweaty and miserable in the apt. I was ready to get outta that furnace as soon as my parents left for the airport! I had been wanting to try Farm:Table (only serves breakfast) for a while, but I've heard the weekend lines were ridiculous... so I put it on our list for our days off during the week.
It was the smallest restaurant we've ever been in. There's a few seats inside, but most are outside. The menu is on a chalkboard and it changes daily. It literally changed when we were standing in line for a few minutes - once the items run out, they're gone.
Tripp got the breakfast sandwich - egg, cheese and ham on a croissant.
I got the fruit toast - fresh fruit, marscapone cheese on toast. SO fresh and light!
This was on the wooden structure we were sitting on - "The city, the people, the buzz, the table. Welcome to it all!" There's no hiding from any of those things in this city!
After breakfast, we didn't want to go back to the hot apartment - so we started walking to the Fairmount since we were close to it already. Well, we ended up walking the wrong direction through the Tenderloin. We have walked through parts of this neighborhood before, but we must have been in the absolute worst parts of it. It was really, really rough area. We bolted out of there as quickly as we could to City Hall.
We had been around the outside of city hall before, but not inside. It's a beautiful building - lots of people who just got married were taking pics!
We spent the rest of the afternoon organizing and packing up to move Tripp home to AR! Final flights back home to AR are booked in just a few weeks - hard to believe this adventure is coming to an end. It will definitely be bittersweet, but we are SOOOO excited!
