It's Sunday and we're home for good now. It's hard to put into words how incredible and happy we are right now to both be HOME in AR... and how amazing the last few days in SF were. I'm going to try my best because it's been so special.
I posted this pic on Instagram from China Beach on my way to SF with the quote "And then I realized... adventures are the best way to learn." BOY is this true.
Waking up on Thursday AM, my 28th Birthday, soaking up this view from bed. I had to work day, but Tripp did an awesome job making me feel special all day! We started the day walking to Pete's in the Ferry Building for coffee and breakfast.
Thursday night we ate dinner at Epic Roasthouse right off Embarcadero (which is super close to our apt). Tripp ate here for his birthday, so he wanted to go here for mine and I was game! I love a good steak.
View from my seat.
I had a filet, Tripp had a ribeye, we split Julia Child potatoes and sauteed spinach.
The service was impeccable. They wished me happy birthday a thousand times and brought me dessert.
Tonight was pretty EPIC. We drank wine, had a great meal (super overpriced though) and talked a lot about this whole experience. What we learned most, was it what we expected, did Tripp get everything out of it that he wanted to professionally, the hardest parts for us personally, etc. There were many moments where we smiled, just stared at each other and lots of thank yous exchanged. We didn't acknowledge it verbally, but at one point - we had that kind of moment and I started to get teary and so did he. I was overwhelmed with thankfulness that we came out of this stronger and better. I was very nervous that wouldn't be the case when we said YES to this whole thing - would the distance pull us apart? I believed in us, of course, but there were so many factors at play. I thank Jesus everyday the answer to that is NO. That doesn't mean it was easy and we didn't have hard times. Unlike either of us expected, the most challenging/frustrating times throughout the past year and a half were when Tripp came home. It was too hard for him to be home and know he had to go back. He couldn't get comfortable... and that was hard for me. We got through it and I'm really proud of us.
Love that our apartment building, cupid's span AND the ferry building are all in the background of this pic.

My cousin Allison posted these pics on Facebook from years ago ha!
Friday morning sunrise from our balcony - LAST sunrise in San Francisco.
We walked across the street to Starbucks for coffee... and LOW AND BEHOLD, we got a FALL Starbucks cup. Oh me oh my how I loved it - I immediately felt cozy and snuggly with it in my hand. That's Howard street, our street, and one of my favorite buildings in the city in the background.
I worked and we packed all day. We went to the Food Trucks one last time - got our grilled cheeses + ice cream tacos and headed back for the last night in our apt.
We sold all of our furniture (WOOO HOO!). We took our cart to UPS and tried to ship back our Potterybarn dishes and some pots and pans. Well, after the UPS man weighed the dishes - it was going to be $230 to mail them back home. UGH I was so sad. Tripp let me pout for a bit and then I got over it. One of his co-workers and her boyfriend came over to get our couch and we gave them everything we had left in the apt. I was sick about the thought of throwing good things away, so we gave it all to them.
Before bed, we opened a bottle of wine and had a few sips ha.
Because we sold our bed frame, we threw away our mattress that night so we didn't have to deal with it at 3am when we were getting up the next morning. So, we blew up the air mattress and slept on that. Well, about an hour in - we both felt like we laying in a hammock. So, we aired it back up and then shortly after, same hammock gig. This was Tripp when I got out of the bed hahahaha. We couldn't help but laugh. The original plan was to get up at 3:15am, but we decided to get up at 2 because sleep wasn't happening.
We packed up, turned out keys in and left Carmel Rincon. It was surreal. We took Uber to the airport. It was 3am by the time we got to the airport and the ticket counters were closed - at 3:30am, we checked our bags... and then headed to security which was closed. So we waited on security to open around 4:30am and then headed to the gate.
We used points to fly home so we flew first class. It was so nice and comfy! We both slept most of the flight to Dallas. Tripp started snoring I had to wake him up!
My parents picked us up from the airport at 1pm since we had so many bags - needed 2 cars! They had cheese dip on the stove, balloons, flowers and the house felt like HOME. It was so nice - they are the best! We started some laundry, were super lazy, gave Reggie lots of love, upacked slowly, watched the Razorback game and got Slims. The perfect night back.
Well done and welcome come home, baby boo. I am so proud of you. September, you were the best month of the year.
Here's to new adventures together :)
