Tony's doesn't take reservations and opens at noon, so we got there around 11:15ish and sat outside. It was so nice outside. About 11:45, the crowd started lining up at the door so we joined in. We were seated immediately and they kindly force you to order quickly due to the demand.
We sat right by a brick oven - I loved the look of this area in the restaurant.
We ordered a meatball to start with - delicious and the size of a baseball!
We ordered 2 pizzas - there are so many choices on the menu depending on what type of pizza you want (deep dish, thin crust, thin but soft, thin by crunchy, etc). Mom and I split the Margherita - they only make 73 a day. Once they hit 73, no more allowed. It was thin, but soft with thick crust. YUM.
Dad and Tripp split one with meat on it - all manly and such.
After we ate, we took Uber and walked up and down Fillmore street. I knew mom would like the shops. The men did a lot of this...
Next up - our GO CAR adventure! During lunch at Tony's, we decided to do the Go cars that afternoon. Segways were also a possibility, but we liked the idea of driving and having more control on our pace.
We all had to watch a safety video first... hence the headphones.
Geared up with helmets!! :) We laughed a lot.
And we're off! We signed up for the 2 hour tour that focused on the coast (as compared to the city since all four of us had already seen most in the city tour), but you can go as fast or slow as you'd like along the route... you also don't have to follow the route, but if you do - there is a lady (like Siri) who plays in the car and gives you information about the places you drive by. Why didn't we think of this??
Mom and Dad behind us :)
We drove along the water and got out at an area past Chrissy Field. We hadn't been this far over before, so the view was new and awesome!
Loved these white houses - they were all similar with beautiful hydrangeas in the front.
Checking out mom and dad behind us...
Then we went even closer to the bridge after parking and climbing up the stairs in Fort Point. It was crazy windy (we were guessing around 40 mph winds), but you could look out on the city view on one side... and at the ocean on the other side of the bridge.
Our hair was everywhere - mom's hidden (and wearing Tripp's jacket because she was cold :))!
We drove through the city and over to Baker Beach.
We drove down Lombard street - so FUN!
We joked the whole time that they were making a lot of "old people" comments. The helmet hurt their head, they couldn't read the menu, they couldn't hear the lady in Go Car... well, we lost them in the last leg of the trip and they pulled in about 15 minutes later. They got lost ha. They said they didn't hear the GPS, but my dad also doesn't like to follow directions :) Overall, it was an AWESOME experience. I wish we would have done this earlier - it's a great way to see the city (definitely better than the big bus or segways)!
For dinner, we took them the food trucks at Off the Grid.
Dinner included grilled cheese, tator tots and a hot dog.
Tripp and I also shared the chicken and waffle sandwich - it was different, but good!
We came later than we have in the past, and it was packed! The Senor Sisig truck that we always start with had a line of at least 100 people the ENTIRE time... so we passed on it.
We ended with ice cream tacos and headed back to their hotel. Sat by the fire and then we walked home. It was a wonderful day - love having my parents here.
