Tripp worked at a food bank and then had a happy hour with his team on Friday, so he was finished with work when I was around 3pm. We met at The View, which is a bar/lounge at the top of the Marriott.
It's on the 39th floor and it is awesome. I had heard that it opens at 4pm and if you want a good seat, you need to be there shortly after. We walked in around 4:30 and it was already packed!
You can sit on the view of the city or the view of the water... we chose the city side. I had my eye set on a set of 2 chairs right by the window and as SOON as the people got up, I was already in their seats.
We sat and talked for a while with some drinks and a cheese plate. Here's the amazing view at The View :)
I really wanted to watch the sunset... but I forgot how much later the sunset was after daylight savings and we had already been there a few hours. Sooooo, we left about 7:30pm. As we were leaving, we walked around to the other side of the bar with the water view.
I'd like to go back again right at sunset and enjoy the view with the city lit up. Although it's free to get into, you pay for the view via the drinks and the food.
We walked across the street to try Sanraku, a sushi place we had heard about in the metreon. The metreon is like a food court and a movie theatre that's connected to the city Target. It was great sushi (and cheap which is rare in SF!) We would pick Sanraku over Ozuymo. And of course girl had to get some dessert. I tried a crepe with butter, brown sugar, apples and ice cream. YUM!
