Opening Day on the Bay

Happy Sunday!!

First things first - we started today with Starbucks across the street. Then we went to get Tripp's laundry. They used to drop his laundry in the lobby, but now it's in lockers. Who would have EVER thunk we would be getting laundry from a locker? Crazy!

We spent Opening Day of Sailing on the Bay at Chrissy Field. Andrew and Truman (his dog) hung with us too.

It was fabulous weather and fun to watch all of the boats with the golden gate in the background.

We had mimosas + sourdough bread and relaxed.

The wind was insane. My hair was everywhereeee.

Walking back into the city, we stopped at the Philz Coffee truck. Andrew raved about this coffee, so we gave it a try. Was super good! I got an iced mocha and Tripp got a hot mocha.

We also stopped in a Target pop up shop near Fort Mason. It was all organic products and they gave you TONS of free samples and coupons.

Tripp cooked again tonight - this time it was pork tenderloin and asparagus. I'm a lucky girl.

Saturday back in the City

I am back in SF! Flew in late last night and got back to the new apartment. It was nice and cozy - Tripp did a good job setting it all up :)

Slept in until about 9am and headed to where else... the Farmer's Market :) Love that place. We got Peet's Coffee and bought the most we've ever purchased at the market. We got strawberries, peaches, asparagus, wine, shrimp and bread. YUM! Always love the flowers.

After the Farmer's Market, we took BART and headed to Brenda's Soul Food.
It's located in the Tenderloin (the roughest part of the city), but apparently a gem. On our way, we walked by the Civic Center which we hadn't seen up close before. There was an exhibit of funky animal statues out front.

Hootie hoooo!

Brenda's is one of the top 10 places reviewed on Yelp. They are known for their shrimp & grits + beignets. We got Brenda's about 1 and waited about an hour to get seated. We were entertained by some crazies walking around the street.

Inside shot of Brenda's.

I got the flight of beignets (crawfish, apple pie, one filled with ghiradelli chocolate and traditional plan) + cheese grits. Tripp got an omelet with andouille sausage and cheese + cheese grits. The beignets were just ok honestly! Cafe Rue Orleans in Fayetteville are better in my opinion. I'm glad I tried the crawfish one, but I wouldn't get them again. The cheese grits were good! Even though the food didn't meet the hype, I always love the first sit down meal Tripp and I have when I'm back in SF. It's just a nice ahhhhh.... all is well in the world feeling.

After Brenda's, we went to Dolores Park to spend the rest of the afternoon. Dolores Park is in the Mission, which we've only been two a few times. The park was PACKED, but just as awesome as we had remembered from almost a year ago when we walked by Dolores Park when we were visiting SF.

View from the top of the park.

We found a place to lay the blanket out on the top hill so we could enjoy the best view of the city... and then we proceeded to watch some crazy s*** at Dolores Park. It was EPIC people watching. Lots of making out, alcohol, weed, birthday hats, corn hole games, some with strange clothes, some with very little clothes, and cute dogs. We felt like we would miss out actually laid back on the grass and stop watching ha!

EX: See the couple goin' at it with the tyedie shirt?

This cute dog was eyeing a pidgeon walking around on the ground and everyone around us was waiting for the moment when he tried to get it. You can see the dog and the pigeon in-air. Everyone around went "ohhhhhhh!!!" at once when the dog wasn't fast enough :)

We probably stuck out like sore thumbs. It's such an awesome park though. Half of the park was going through construction, so that forced everyone to be closer than normal.

I talked Tripp into one more stop before we headed back home... Tartine Bakery - of course it was sweets related :) I heard there was always a line outside
of Tartine regardless of the time of day and confirmed that was true. We got there around 5pm and there were at least 20 people in a line outside the door.

The bakery menu changes every day, so I didn't know what to expect. They had a few things left, but not the bread pudding I had heard about. Instead I got 2 mexican cookies. Overall, the place has a great atmosphere and everything looked divine. I'm definitely coming back in the morning again to have a wider selection!

Now we are back at the apartment, enjoying the amazing view from our apt and Tripp is cooking dinner :) Life is good.

Last Dinner of the Trip!

Our plan after Tiburon was going to be to order pizza in and relax at the apartment since we had to get up at 4am for my 6am flight (yuck). We were on the couch and I saw an Instagram post from Schulzie's Bread Pudding that said they were closing in a few days. WHATTTT???? :( :( :(

Plans have changed. I MUST have Schulzie's before I leave because it will be gone by the time I'm back. Tripp was on board, so we decided to eat dinner at Papito's in Hayes Valley (where Schulzie's is). We took BART and walked a bit to Papito's. Got seated at the bar right away and had a fabulous meal!

Tripp got the shrimp enchiladas and I got the chicken fajitas. We started with guacamole. It was divine. Tripp said they were the best enchiladas he's ever had... and my fajitas had the best flavor. Definitely a top restaurant for us!

After dinner we made our way to Schulzie's and I had my last experience at a bread pudding bar. I would LOVE to open one of these in NWA. Southern folks love bread pudding.

I am SO glad we tried Schulzies before so we were able to get some and then know we had to go back before it closed. #addictedtosweets

It's been one heck of a week. Work was crazy busy and Tripp and I had a blast together. We had a nice blend of low key nights at the apartment + exploring new parts of the city. I'll be back in less than 2 weeks! :)

Tiburon - Hippy Tree

After breakfast, we walked down Main street which is what Sam's sits on. It was adorable... small little shops.

The front side of Sam's.

Tripp picked this up... ewwww. The fratter in him loves it. I'm not a fan of SUPER preppy look :)

Then we started our hike to the Hippy Tree! It was a 45 min walk/hike and throughout that time, we fell in LOVE with Tiburon. The cutest town ever. We want to retire there one day :)

We walked most of the way on flat land and then had to start the uphill part. Legs were burning and we were sweating ha. We had to stop a few times to catch our breath, but we didn't mind because everything was so beautiful!

Ahhhh we made it to the Hippy Tree - which is a huge tree with a swing on it that overlooks the view of the bay bridge (on the left) all the way over to the golden gate (on the right)! These pictures don't do it justice. AND there is a swing on the tree!

My turn to swing. This was one of THE coolest experiences of my life so far. Swinging with that view and experiencing it with Tripp... was the best.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee :)

 Tripp's turn!

Here is the actual tree. When we got to it, there was a family and the kids were playing up in the tree :)

We put the blanket down and relaxed in the sun. The weather was awesome and it was so peaceful! Tripp and I were there by ourselves soaking it up for 30ish minutes.

Woo Pig Sooie from Tiburon, CA!

Hippy Tree, I heart you a lot. Until next time!

We made our way back to the ferry via a different route to see a new area of the town. On our way down the hill...

An artist painting the scenery...

We walked up Bellevue Drive which has amazing houses and the coolest views of the city and the bay. It is a very narrow and windy street.

On the ferry home. Tripp and I both agreed it was our favorite spot so far in our bay adventures. Loved every second.
