Friday & Saturday

On Friday night, Tripp and I planned a date night at Allegro Romano in Russian Hill.

While I was waiting on him to get home, I popped some bubbly and drank it out of a wine glass. How we roll in SF.

Oh.. and this was the night before watching my TGIT shows. Scandal with a view!

Pink bubbly. So yummy.

We walked through Russian Hill during one of our first trips visiting SF, but hadn't been back since. We had reservations at 6 and got there a bit early, so we walked right down the street and stumbled upon this view.

Sky was cotton candy colored. Praise the hills and curse the hills. They give amazing views throughout the city, but BOY are they steep!

View from our seats in the restaurant. We sat in a tiny little corner booth.

White truffle tortellini in basil pesto sauce. DELICIOUS.

Homemade lobster ravioli in vodka sauce. Tripp loved this as well.

When we walked outside, you could see Mars & Venus next to the moon.

Then I convinced Tripp (again) to go to a dessert place I had heard about. It's called the Creme Brulee Cart. It has a storefront in the Mission and a food truck that roams around as well.

I got vanilla bean with candied pecans and salted caramel sauce. If the actual creme brulee would have been warmer, it would have been great... it was still tasty, but I didn't like that it was cold.

Super cute place though! We took BART and were home by 8 ha! Topped off the night watching American Idol on the couch together :)

On Saturday, we spent the day in Cow Hollow & the Marina. This is where I would live in the city if it was up to me and Tripp didn't have to go to work where he does. I love this area. It has a cliche, but I don't care.

First we hit up Cafe Golo. AMAZING brunch - best in the city so far for both of us. You walk up and write your name on the outside door because there is NO room inside... there is barely enough room for the tables. You walk inside and there is literally a table 2 feet in front of you. The whole place probably holds 15 tables max.

We only had to wait about 5 minutes and then we enjoyed a fab meal.

After brunch, we walked through Chestnut street - it is one of the main streets in the area with a ton of great restaurants and shops. I WILL be back :)

We walked down Chestnut to Lyon St towards the Palace of Fine Arts. This place was so peaceful and beautiful! We didn't know it at the time, but it was the 100th anniversary of the Palace of Fine Arts the day we visited! There was a really long line to the inside, so we expected something was up.

Houses walking up to the Palace.

If you look closely, you can see the people on the edges of the top squares as if they are looking inside the square box.

We walked around and through the dome. We both thought it was a top spot to see in the city. We laid out the blanket and just soaked up the sun and the scenery for a bit.

I get restless though, so it only lasts so long. Tripp could lay there alllll day.

Sweet swans in the water.

Two peas in the pod.

Next stop was to walk up Lyon Street so we could see the bottom of the Lyon Street Steps. Did that and then walked down the other main street in the area...Union.

Union has a ton of great shops, restaurants and bars as well. We went in Paper Source. It has the coolest entrance... you walk through this tunnel with good music playing and back into this courtyard. So cute.

So that we don't forget this... we went into Starbucks for a drink and while Tripp was in the bathroom, these two men were yelling at each other because one of the men had brought a dog inside and then other was yelling that it was wrong.

THEN I ordered our drinks and was about to hand my card over to pay and this young guy walked up and bought our drinks. Then he proceeded to talk to me for what felt like forever. Tripp FINALLY came out of the bathroom to the rescue. We finally ended the conversation and we thought he started following us ha. We lost him finally. Whew - super nice that he bought our drinks, but we were a tad creeped out.

Last stop of the day was the Wave Organ. We walked down Marina street then by the Yacht club all the way down to the point. On the way, lots of people out flying kites.

 By all of the boats...

This is the actual Wave Organ - you can see the pipes. You put your ears up to the pipes that run down into the bay and are supposed to hear sounds...

These two pipes have a pretty sweet view of the city.

There was a small beach we went down to so we could sit. It was later afternoon and CHILLLLY!!

Tripp touching the water. Wasn't too cold!

Then I think he gets off-balance or something ha.

We had some guacamole and nachos at Rosa Mexicana close to the apt. Final stop of the day was a trip to Safeway with the shopping cart Mary Ann sent Tripp ;) He was too embarassed to take it by himself, so I went with him to help shop for his food over the next few weeks.

We made it to Safeway and starting adding a few items to the cart and the wheel popped off. It was pretty hilarious. We fixed it and the cart was really handy. Hoping Tripp feels confident enough to push it by himself from now on :)

Hard to believe it will be over a month before I am back in the city - overall, it was a good trip with lots of fun at night + on the weekends... and work during the day! Tripp visits AR in three weeks. Can't wait for him to be back home for a bit.
