Saturday Adventures - Cable Car & Alamo Square

On Saturday, I slept in a bit. Woke up and we watched a special on the city of SF and it's history. I learned a lot - actually made me appreciate the city even more.

We decided to start the day with a Cable Car ride. This was the first for me, but Tripp had ridden a cable car years ago during a trip to SF with his grandparents. We waited on Powell street for a bit - which we didn't mind at all because it was AMAZING weather. So pretty and sunny.

The Cable Car crew manually turns the car around to go back the other way.

Our car route was Powell and Mason, which ends at Fisherman's Wharf.

Herrree we go!

Disclaimer - we took a ton of #selfies today. I can only ask other people to take our pic so many times.

We got off the Cable Car and walked to Hyde Street to take the Powell & Hyde Cable Car back into town for a different view. We were right next to Ghiradelli Square with an amazing view of the water and the Golden Gate.

Where the Powell & Hyde Cable Car turns around.

While we were waiting in line (which was about 45 mins), a man in a mask was chained up by his friend and unchained himself for money. Never a dull moment.

We didn't get a seat on this car, so we both held onto the pole for this ride. We both preferred this route/view of the city best. Looking back at Alcatraz.

Tripp had to wear his backpack on the front of his body like a baby ha.

View of the TransAmerica Pyramid.

Next adventure of the day was to hang at Alamo Square and see the Painted Ladies. We ate a late lunch around 3pm at Nopalito - didn't realize how long the cable car adventure would be :)

Started with Totopos con Chile - a different version of chips and queso :)

Tripp got a quesadilla with pork, pork rinds, cheese, salsa and onions.

I got a pork sandwich with avocado, cheese, beans, slaw and salsa.

After lunch, we stopped at Bi-Rite Ice Cream on the way to Alamo Square, which was a few blocks away from Alamo Square. I got malted vanilla with chips of dark chocolate and peanut brittle. YUM.

Views from the backside of the park.

Happy girl.

And now the front side of the park. We sat on the grass and watched the sun set over the Painted Ladies. Is this real lifeee?????

There were so many people out sitting in groups, walking their dogs, taking pics, etc. The couple in front of us was playing cards - so cute!

More #teamhollowell #selfies :)

Awesome day! I think I've worn Tripp out with all of the adventures we've been on this past week :) We have been checking things off our bucket list, but in no rush - just enjoying the moments and making memories. Sad to be leaving tomorrow :(

Friday Date Night

On Friday night, we wanted drinks with a view to watch the sun set. We walked to the Hyatt on Embarcadero and tried to go to the bar at the top, but apparently you have to be staying there to do that. So, we decided to head to the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental Hotel at the top of Nob Hill.

Tripp suggested made us walk... as I said up above, it's located on the TOP of a steep hill :) We were sweating *like a lot* by the time we got there, but we made it.

The lobby - it's elegant and beautiful.

We took the elevator up about 30 floors to the floor with a "TM" on the button - which stands for Top of the Mark, which is the bar/lounge at the top.

This is the view to the right of the elevator. WHOA. We just stood there in awe - we hadn't seen a view like this of the city before. It was amazing!

We got seated at a table and just enjoyed the view. We ordered some drinks and cheese and talked. For me, it was one of the sweetest date nights we've ever had. It was definitely unexpected since we weren't really sure what the bar would be like. This was before it got dark...

We sat and talked for a few hours - about his job, my job, plans for this year, how were were both handling this whole crazy situation, what we are grateful for, what we miss from AR, etc. I think we will both remember this night for a while. They had a limited menu, so we decided to go somewhere else for dinner.

Vodka tonic for him. Bubbly for me.

On our way out, we walked to the other side of the bar and saw Grace Cathedral Church... and decided to go check it out up close :)

Front view of the Hotel.

Grace Cathedral.

It was closed, so we sat on the front steps for a bit. Just so I don't forget, there was this moment when we were kissin' on the steps and the church bell started to ring. I told Tripp it felt like we were being watched over. God saying reassuring us to keep onward and supporting each other.

Then we decided to head over to North Beach. We walked around a bit and saw these books in the air?

We decided to stop at The Stinking Rose. Waiting for our table...

We weren't super hungry, so we ate light. It was a cute little restaurant!

Tripp likely frowning because A) He is stuffed yet can't stop eating, B) He is sad about having 2 checks to pay in one night, C) I'm leaving soon, D) all of the above. D it is :)

Loved this night so much! So grateful for my boo.
