I drove to Little Rock on Friday afternoon to make it in time for Baby Beach's gender reveal! Mere, Claire, Doug and I were able to catch up all night - so needed! Claire is having a GIRL in August! We all thought Baby Beach was a BOY and we were right!
This popper was the coolest! The confetti lasted in the air forever - so excited for our friends! Baby Beach is due in September. I wanted to share our news, but kept it quiet for now :)

Almost Week 8
Three symptoms that remind me I'm pregnant (still cannot believe it!!):
1. Sore, sore, sore boobs. They're definitely growing.
2. Jazzercise is hard. Weights and cardio both feel more challenging.
3. NAPS. I have NEVER been a nap person... but the last 2 weekends, I have taken a nap on both Saturday and Sunday. I get so tired after I eat lunch and hit the bed or couch. I still sleep well at night and trying to get as much sleep as I can. It's nice :)
Tripp told Calvin and a friend at work... Tonight we told Jess and Sawyer! Barret was out of town. I was excited to tell her and get to talk about this experience with my BFF!
We brought dinner over and told Sawyer he had a gift to open first.
It was a onesie that said "BFF Coming Soon!" :) Jess was so excited - jumped up and down! Fun night.

Babty H - First Doc Appt
Our first doctor's appt for Baby H was Wednesday, April 13th at 8am. I was told we wouldn't see the doc this appt - instead, we would meet with the nurse, do lab work, etc. I knew this would involve getting my blood drawn (I hate needles), but I actually wasn't that nervous. It had been years since I had to have blood drawn, so I was confident I could handle it
Tripp and I drove to Fayetteville that morning, sat in the waiting room looking at women of all ages... big and small pregnant bellies... a random soon-to-be-dad crocheting. I was looking up pictures of our doctor on Facebook to show Tripp what she looked like and she a few minutes later she walked in carrying her new baby girl! Didn't get to talk to her, but at least Tripp got to see her in person.
About 30 minutes later, we get called back. Eekkk! Here we go!
I peed in a cup, then we met with the nurse to go through my history and our combined family history. Lots of Q&A. Thankfully, most of our answers were "NO" as the nurse asked of if we had history of X, Y and Z.
I had two questions for the nurse:
1. "I will get a call if there is an issue with any of the lab work done today, right?" Answer = YES.
2. I said "cheese dip?" Nurse looked at me like I was crazy and smiled. I had read there was bad mexican cheese you want to avoid during pregnancy that was sometimes in cheese dip at mexican restaurants and I needed to know if chips and cheese dip was going to be something I had to part ways with for the next 9 months. She said "ummm.... yes, cheese dip is fine! Never heard that one before!" Oops. Tripp was dying :) #blessed #bettersafethansorry
Next up - I went to have my blood drawn. I only got a little nervous when I saw I had to do this sitting up in chair. I have always been horizontal when I've had blood drawn in the past. :/ The lady was super nice and it didn't hurt one bit when the needle went in. I was cool as a cucumber. She was asking me questions - "Is this your first?" "How far along are you?" etc. I GOT THIS. I was seriously excited about showing Tripp that I could handle this.
Welll.... about 4 minutes in (HOW MUCH FRIGGIN' BLOOD DO YOU NEED???), I started feeling queasy and not.good. I told the lady "I don't feel too good... I think I'm going to be sick." I struggled to keep my head up until she finished with the blood (PRAISE JESUS!) and told me to put my head between my knees.
CUE THE SWEAT. I mean... I was dripping all over instantly. The back of my neck was soaking wet and my face (between my knees) was dripping. Katie = not a badass... instead, embarrassed and feeling awful.
Still sweating and everything is white. I ask her if I can go lay down. She says "Can you walk?" I say "sure" because anything is better than sitting in this chair. I stand up - literally cannot see a thing. I am on the verge of passing out. She is basically holding me up as we walk down the hall to the room and then she tries to show me where to sit, but "ummm mam, I cannot see." Somehow I find the chair with my hands and now I'm sitting again. I ask for a cup of water and she goes to find Tripp.
Tripp walks in - I was sad (because I really wanted to show him I was tough) and then so happy to see him because of the way I felt. He sat down next to me for a few minutes and then I was good to go. Tripp was great - kind of laughing at me (deserved), but also taking care of me when he saw "how the color of my face matched my white shirt." He was laughing telling me that when the blood lady went to go find him, she said "ummm sir, your wife is laying in a room. She needs you." HA. Never a dull moment.
We also met with an insurance lady and she showed us the math and $ plan to have a baby. It was organized all on one page and super helpful!
Well, the first doctor appointment was more exciting than we anticipated. I hope this isn't a sign of what's to come with this pregnancy! :/ I seriously tried to so hard to handle that blood work like a champ, but it's just not in the cards for me. We both went back to work after the appointment. My makeup was non-existent as it had dripped off with the sweat and I felt pretty weak. It was hard going back to work - I just wanted to be at home with Tripp! The night of our appointment, Tripp surprised me with a book "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and he got "So, You're Going to be a Dad" for himself. I love it!!
I wanted a pic with his book. He insisted on his "oh sh**" face... and then one smiling :)
We made our next appointment (first one with doc and we get to hear heartbeat) for Monday, May 9th... which is the morning before I fly out to SF later in the afternoon. I really wanted to get in before I went to SF for a week, and then Alys Beach with the fam the following week... so we can see a healthy heartbeat before we share the big news! :) I can't WAIT!

Grandparents
Found this old pic of both Tripp and I's grandfathers swimming in the same pool! This is in Helena... when the 4 of our grandparents are spending time together. Love it!

Baby H - Idea settling in...
I want to remember this time of our lives... so I'm writing it all down!
Sunday (3/27): We laid in bed Sunday night and Tripp says... "I'm just so happy." He told me as cheesy as it sounds something immediately changed in him when I gave him that Easter basket. He said he wants to take care of me and feels more protective of this human we made together. Truth is Tripp has taken care of me and loved me so well from Day 1. I mean... I love him.
Monday (3/28): I called the doc and got our first appt scheduled - just over 2 weeks away. That seems like a lifetime away. I don't want to rush this time because our lives our changing forever, but a part of me will feel better once I see a doc and get blood work that confirms it again. I have been having mild cramps consistently since I found out... It's apparently very normal and on one hand, I'm thankful for a reminder that this sweet babe is growing inside me... and on the other hand, cramping makes me concerned.
Tuesday (3/29): He texted me today and said "We have our own baby now! I cannot stop thinking about it."
Wednesday (3/30): Tripp sent me the most beautiful flowers from Pigmint!! Every time he sends flowers, I swear they get even better! I was so surprised. Just some average Wednesday love. I'm so undeserving. Seriously.

When I was texting him to tell him thank you, he said "BOOM! I thought Hump Day took on a different meaning with you having a baby inside! I wanted to say more on the card but I knew I couldn't just yet." Love him.
This has been the longest week EVER! It feels like forever since Easter weekend... and that was just last weekend. It's fun having this secret just between the 2 of us, but man time seems to be going SOOOOO slow. I just want to have a doc appt to get a good check up on baby :)
We spent the weekend at home doing house work. Tripp worked hard in the yard and I cleaned out our closet and masterbed. We had brunch after church at Emilia's in Fayetteville with Tripp's college friends - it was a beautiful day and I LOVE brunch!
