Fixing Up the Apt

We traded in the blow up for a real mattress... but of course forgot the bedframe (#domesticwifefail). We put Ikea furniture together for HOURS. We bought a tiny hand drill at Walgreens for the 2,000 screws we used. It felt like it was never going to end, but when it was over - we were pretty proud of ourselves!

Boxes everywhere!

Tripp is super proud of the chair he just put together - only took 2 hours. JK - 45 min :)

Not sure what I was thinking when I approved this chair purchase - yikes. #badtaste

The $50 coffee table.

Dinner when putting together Ikea furniture is cheese, blackberries and wheat thins.

Progress!

Exhausted ;)

SF: True Life - The First Week (together) in July

Memories from our first week officially living out here together!

Our routine thus far: We wake up at 6am. I roll out of bed, brush my teeth and open my computer to start my day (which is 8am CST to stay on the same timing as my work fam in NWA). We head to Starbucks across the street when Tripp is ready for work, Tripp heads to BART to go to work. I go back to the apartment and work until 3ishpm. Tripp comes home around 5ish and we do whatever we want at night - walk around, go out to eat, cook in, etc. Have an amazing view watching TV before bed. Night, Night. REPEAT.

Starbucks across the street from the apt. Coincidence? I think not!

My heart.

Below are pics from the Farmer's Market - a couple of minutes from our apt.

We ate at "The Market" in the Ferry Building after getting our food at the Farmer's Market. There was a guy on the street playing the saxaphone. So cool!

 Pretty views from the week:

This is a block from our apartment - it's right on the water.

We also went to Target for the first time to get some groceries and things for the apt. It's a 20min-ish walk from the apt. Have never been to a Target on the 2nd floor of a building, but everything else looked the same as AR.

This is the look of - now we have to carry all of this crap back :( :(

Some of the places we ate this week -
Mixt Greens - build your own salad place.

Anchor and Hope seafood - it was a really cool atmosphere, but we didn't love the food. It's one to try again though!

Perry's

Super Duper Burger - right around the block from our apt. YUMMY. They didn't have ranch but I forgave them.

The BIG Move + Sausalito

Well, here we are - out in San Francisco and it has been so awesome so far. Tripp officially moved out here on July 11th.

MM & Tripp hugging it out before he left.

I dropped him off at the airport that morning and he was off. Here is a pic that I took of him walking in :( Sad that we would be apart, but so exciting!

I went out to visit him about a week later. Not helping him move in and being there with him on his first days alone in SF was hard. I felt so bad for him and I know he was lonely and bored.

On my flight from LA to SF - I had TWO empty seats next to me! Halleljuah.

Poor Tripp moved into an apartment with loads of boxes of stuff we had already ordered online and had shipped... big items included an air mattress, 2 pillows and a lawn chair. He had a couple of days to get adjusted and then had day 1 on the new job. I came out on Friday night and Team Hollowell was reunited! Hallelujah! Honestly - the 8 days apart weren't unbearable. I don't think either one of slept or ate very well, but we survived :) We did well, but were SO happy to be back together.

Tripp met me at baggage claim and we took BART back to our apartment. Hello night 1!

The next morning it was go time. Our first official adventure - we went to Ikea to load up on furniture. We rented a car and Andrew (our friend I mentioned before) helped us out. Neither one of us had been to Ikea - WHAT an experience! It was awesome, but SO overwhelming. We basically wanted to get the necessities, but there were lots of options and I'm not used to making these types of decisions without my Mother In Law. Yikes. After a couple of hours, we made decisions and got the heck outta there!

We got back to the apartment, walked around the city a bit and then had a celebratory dinner.

The next day we headed to Sausalito! It was fantastic and beautiful! One of Tripp's co-workers who moved from AR to CA about a year ago with Clorox invited us to join his family outing to Sausalito. He and his wife have two kiddos and we had so much fun with them. We walked a couple of blocks from our apartment to the Ferry building, got coffee and took our first SF ferry ride together - dreamy don't ya think? :)

Love this cute pic of Avery looking back at the city.

We walked around a bit and then headed to one of their favorite lunch spots. We got comfy with our great view, great food and drinks and hung out for a couple of hours. It didn't feel like real life.

The view from our table.

These are some pics walking back to our place from the Ferry Building - So beautiful!

The building with the 2 towers that look batman-ish is where we live - called "Carmel Rincon."
